Opportunities

The Charitable Society of Charleston (CSC) consists of young professionals who volunteer time and talent to promote volunteerism as well as raise awareness and charitable dollars for area nonprofits. They accomplish this in several ways.

Each CSC member gives a great deal of time, dedicating hours and hours throughout the year, to plan and execute fundraising events for local charities. They do this on their own time, during the evening and quite often on weekends. They give back, early in their careers, making volunteerism a priority. The dollars raised goes to a local charity, so the nonprofit not only receives a gift, but the organization’s profile is raised with scores of people that attend the function. Attendees have fun and learn about what’s going on.

Additionally, CSC established a grantmaking fund with Coastal Community Foundation (CCF) several years ago – The Charitable Society of Charleston Endowment – and grants from this fund support organizations that serve youth and the elderly. Their focus is two-fold: support the next generation and honor and respect those who have paved the way.

As you can imagine, CSC receives hundreds of support inquires throughout the year.

  • For those interested in CSC considering their organization as an event beneficiary, submit an e-inquiry to info@charitablesocietyofcharleston.org
  • For those interested in applying to The Charitable Society of Charleston Endowment for grant support, currently there is not a separate grantmaking process. Until CSC’s endowment grows, it “piggybacks” onto one of CCF’s longstanding grantmaking programs – Open Grants.
  • For those nonprofits that focus on young people or the elderly, we encourage submissions to this annual program. For more information, contact Edie Blakeslee at eblakeslee@CCFgives.org or (843) 723-5736 extension 121.
